SFX本地安裝的圖書館，有二件重要事項向您說明：

1、為提供更新、更穩定的資料庫版本，飛資得將協助進行MariaDB升級：11月份將升級由10.2到10.4.21；12月份的SFX更新中將包含MariaDB由版本10.4.21自動昇級到10.4.25。

2、由於RedHat 6版已停止維護，且因應資安議題的重要性，Ex Libris近日決議並通知SFX產品於2022年12月起不再支援作業系統安裝在RH 6的SFX更新。屆時安裝在RH6(含)以下的圖書館，將無法再進行SFX軟體及每周的KB更新，功能和KB維持在當前的版本可以繼續使用。建議圖書館及早因應作業系統昇級、移機/移轉等相關事項的準備，飛資得已盤點，近日業務同仁將主動聯繫需昇級/移轉的圖書館進一步說明與討論因應方案。使用SFX SaaS與作業系統版本7以上的客戶將不受影響。

RedHat RH6 support

From the December release onwards we will not be supporting RH6 anymore. Installations that continue to run on RH6 will not receive any software updates from that point onwards.

MariaDB upgrade

Overview

We are going to upgrade the database version from 10.2. to 10.4.25 this year. You can run the first part of this upgrade in your own time, prior to November (upgrade from 10.2. to 10.4.21). For installations that have not yet performed the upgrade in November, it will run as part of one of the November revisions.

Details

The upgrade will be performed in two steps for technical reasons:

1. 　In November, as part of one of the weekly releases we will run the upgrade from 10.2 to 10.4.21 – this step can be run by you manually prior to November
2. With the December quarterly release, we will run the upgrade from 10.4.21 to 10.4.25 

We don’t expect any issues and the upgrade was well tested but customers with local installations might still want to plan in some testing after the upgrade which is why you might want to run step 1 yourself, prior to November.

Below are the instructions how to run the upgrade from 10.2. to 10.4.21 manually. The MariaDB package has a size of 1.1 GB. Depending on your internet connection it may take some time for it to be downloaded. During testing we found that the upgrade itself takes only about 10 minutes on average – excl. backup. However, the actual length of time on your installation depends on your database size and hardware. While users experience only a downtime of a few minutes during the db restart, SFXAdmin will be locked for the duration of the upgrade.

Instructions for running the upgrade from 10.2. to 10.4.21 manually, prior to November

1. as root, run:

tcsh

source ~sfxglb41/.cshrc

cd /exlibris/sfx_ver/sfx4_1/sfxglb41/admin/revision

./rev-up --justapply=sfx-extra-update-4.10.18.1

2. Follow the rev-up output and verify there are no errors.

 

3. Verify that MariaDB was upgraded to 10.4.21:
   mysql -uroot -p<mysql_root_password> -e "select version();"
