Clarivate

 Dear

Clarivate

To our customers:

In 1938, a book printer’s representative named Eugene Power collaborated with his customers at the University of Michigan to solve a pressing research challenge: collections of rare research materials couldn’t be shared among libraries. That collaboration led to the use of microfilm to unlock research collections, making them shareable, compact and accessible. It revolutionized libraries and how they serve their users – and it marked the founding of ProQuest.

More than 80 years later, our approach is still remarkably similar: collaborate with customers to understand their challenges, innovate new solutions and help libraries better serve users. Over the years, we’ve united with like-minded market leaders – including Ex Libris, Innovative and Alexander Street – companies which share the same customer-centric approach. Together, we’ve partnered with libraries to deliver innovative approaches in a range of areas, including cloud-based library discovery and management, learning and research solutions, new e-books acquisition and resource sharing models, a brand-new marketplace for e-books, text and data mining technology, and a host of other advancements.

In joining Clarivate, we see an opportunity to support our customers with deeper resources and complementary strengths that can fuel an even bigger, more imaginative vision to serve you and your mission. The combination of Clarivate and ProQuest puts us in a great position to provide our customers with a full view of the academic research lifecycle, helping to accelerate learning outcomes as well as research output and impact with a more complete view of Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities.

We’re excited to be part of Clarivate and what we can do for libraries as a combined organization. Our model of collaborating with our customers has stood the test of time for more than eight decades, and that won’t change. The qualities that you know and trust – transparency, responsiveness and innovation – will continue to guide us. We remain committed to keeping you informed about the integration of ProQuest and Clarivate in future communications. In the meantime, please continue to operate as usual with both companies – there are no changes to your contacts or their contact information.

Today marks a major milestone in our long history – one we believe holds great promise for the future. As we explore the opportunities ahead, we look forward to sharing our plans, gaining your feedback and building solutions that advance your mission.

Thanks for being our customer.
